SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2019) ‒ Dr. Karla Rhay, CEO of California Schools JPA, will receive the Association of California School Administrators Classified Leader of the Year Award on Nov. 8 at the Association of California School Administrators Leadership Summit to be held Nov. 7-9, 2019 in San Francisco.
The statewide award recognizes Dr. Rhay’s visionary and exemplary leadership in the field of public education. She was nominated for the award by Ted Alejandre, Superintendent of San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.
The Association of California School Administrators is the largest organization of school leaders, management and administrators in the United States and serves more than 17,000 administrators in 19 regions throughout the state of California. Every year, the association honors administrators of the year at both the regional and state levels. The Region 12 Classified Leader of the Year Award was presented to Dr. Rhay on April 15, 2019 at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif.
“I’m honored to have been nominated and receive this award in recognition of my dedication to public education,” says Dr. Rhay. “I have been leading the California Schools JPA for more than 14 years and am proud of the work that I am able to do on behalf of our membership.”
Dr. Rhay is a former educator and administrator who once sat on the board of directors of the California Schools JPA. As the chief executive officer of the two distinct joint powers authorities, Dr. Rhay ensures coverage for public schools and community colleges in the areas of property, liability, workers’ compensation, and employee benefits. Located in San Bernardino, California Schools JPA is comprised of both California Schools Employee Benefits Association (CSEBA) and California Schools Risk Management (CSRM). Dr. Rhay leads a 24-person staff dedicated to providing employee benefits and risk management solutions for public school and community college districts.
